About Us

Jacksonville Harmony, affectionately know as Jax Harmony, is a member of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit (501c3) women’s organization with approximately 30,000 members worldwide in choruses and quartets.

Our mission is to entertain, educate, and continue the tradition of a cappella barbershop harmony. Jax Harmony has been fulfilling this mission for over 50 years.

We are a group of approximately 60 women who joined the organization for the music but found so much more. Fun, friendships, and fantastic music fuel our passion for this hobby. We thrive on entertaining as we put on shows or cabarets each year, perform at events around the city [both public and private], and even open sporting events with the National Anthem.

Under the direction of our master director, Ann Gooch, Jax Harmony also enjoys the competition level of this organization. In the spring of each year, choruses compete at the regional level; ours is the state of Florida. Jacksonville Harmony traditionally returns from these events with medals. Chorus and quartet winners at the regional level go on to compete at the International level. In 2014, Jacksonville Harmony Chorus was 2nd in the world in the mid-size chorus category.

In addition to performing, the chorus is also focused on learning more and improving on our craft of barbershop singing. Each rehearsal has time dedicated to vocal instruction and improvement. We are fortunate to have visiting coaches throughout the year who are highly esteemed for their knowledge of the art of barbershop.
